Privacy Policy
This page explains which personal data MYLAPTIMES processes, why, who receives it, and which rights you have.

2. Legal bases
We process data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Where the GDPR applies (for example to visitors in the EU), we rely on contract (account and platform), legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, reach measurement, error fixing), and consent where we ask for it. Using the website alone is not consent.
3. Data we process
Depending on how you use MYLAPTIMES, we process these categories:
- Visit: technical data such as IP address, browser, pages viewed, timestamps; session and locale cookies
- Account: name, username, email, password (hash), starting number, nationality, licence note, profile photo, optional Facebook and Instagram names
- Use: lap times (including visibility public / followers / private), vehicles, tyres and setup, photos, comments, likes, mentions, follows, circuit ratings, interest in events
- Weather for a lap time: date, time and circuit coordinates sent to Visual Crossing
- Partnership enquiries: name, email, company, message, IP, user agent
- Surveys: only if you allow surveys in your settings
- Emails: confirmation, password, account notices; occasionally information about events
- Security: Google reCAPTCHA v3 at registration (including score)
- Downloads and internal analytics: which file you fetch, user agent
4. Purposes
We use the data to run your account; show lap times, garage and feed; provide events and circuits; add weather to a time; answer enquiries; prevent abuse; find errors; understand and improve the website; and meet legal duties.
5. Recipients and disclosure abroad
We disclose data to service providers where that is needed to run the service. Disclosure to these states:
- Hosting: Switzerland (server location)
- Google Ireland / Google LLC (USA): Analytics (if a measurement ID is set), reCAPTCHA, Maps on the circuit page, optional translation of editorial circuit or update texts
- Visual Crossing (USA): weather for a lap time
- Sentry (USA): error reports, if configured
- Email provider: EU and/or USA, depending on the vendor
For states without an adequate level of protection recognised by the Federal Council, we rely on recognised safeguards (for example standard contractual clauses) of the respective provider. We do not sell data.
6. Cookies
Necessary: session cookie for login and locale. Analytics: Google Analytics 4 loads in the non-local environment when a tracking ID is set, and sets cookies for that. You can refuse or limit cookies in your browser; without a session cookie the account will not work. A separate consent banner is not part of this text update.
7. Retention
We keep account data and content you record for as long as the account exists. Partnership enquiries and internal analytics last as long as needed for their purpose. Logs and error reports are kept for a limited time. After a deletion request we remove data unless a legal retention duty applies. There is no self-service delete button yet; write to the contact address.
8. Rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict processing, and to object. Where the FADP provides for it, you can ask us to deliver your data in a common electronic format.
If you believe the processing of your data breaches data-protection law, you can complain to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC / EDÖB).
9. External links
Instagram, organiser sites, maps and similar destinations follow their own rules.
10. Other notes
Public lap times and profile details can be seen by other users. Private times stay private. Event data and weather can be inaccurate.
